Researchers of the Ethiopian Health And Nutrition Research Institute at the Traditional and Modern Medicine Research Directorate, review the ongoing researches of traditionally used medicinal plants on a scientific review workshop conducted from November 15 to 17, 2013 in Ambo, Abebech Metaferiya Hotel.

The workshop organizers announced that the workshop is organized to review the ongoing research activities on the efficacy, safety and quality evaluation of medicinal plants and create a platform that helps to evaluate accomplishments and plan the way forward accordingly.
Dr. Eshetu Lema, Head of the Scientific And Ethical Review Office at the EHNRI in his key note address said that, malaria, diarrheal diseases and parasitic helminthic infections that have public health importance are causing serious health problems particularly in rural community of Ethiopia that need a joint effort in prevention aspects as well as searching for safe and effective traditional remedies to address the problem.
“searching for effective, safe, environmentally sound, affordable and accessible plant based medicine against animal ectoparasites have paramount importance to increase livestock productivity for farmers as well as to increase the quality of skins and hides thereby enhance the foreign currency of the country” said Dr. Eshetu    
During the workshop participant have reviewed what has been accomplished so far and set clear direction for the coming years activities with the involvement of all experts in the field of agricultural, health and biomedical.
