Dissemination workshop and consultative meeting on HIV/AIDS, TB and related diseases research findings which was organized by the Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI) and was held from September 4-6, 2017 in Dire Dawa was concluded successfully.
Providing updates on the national health program, share research findings from EPHI and others on TB, and assess the impact of research findings on policy, strategy and health sector were the major objectives of the workshop.
Dr. Ebba Abate, Director General of EPHI on his opening speech indicated that EPHI as Federal public health institute and as technical arm of the Federal Ministry of Health has been contributing over the past several years in provision of research findings having great impact to policy, strategies and clinical practice. And also he extended his gratitude to the Federal HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control Office (FHAPCO) and CDC-Ethiopia for financially supporting the workshop.
“One of the peculiar features of research outcomes emanates from EPHI is having of its direct input to national programs and policies with the aim to address societal health problems. The institute conducts such consultative and research dissemination workshop on yearly basis with the aim to share research findings to people working in programmatic areas as well as to crate platform to researchers outside EPHI to reveal their finding to wider community on the area of major public health problems such as Tuberculosis and HIV,” said Dr. Ebba.
Deputy Mayor of Dire Dawa City Administration Abdella Ahmed, Dr. Muluken Argaw Dire Dawa City Administration’s Health Bureau Head and Dr. Ashenafi Haile representative of CDC-Ethiopia have also delivered a welcoming and opening speeches.
More than 30 researches have been presented on the workshop and researchers from different universities, health workers from regional health bureaus, representatives from federal ministries, partner organizations and staffs from EPHI have participated on the workshop.neeeeeews
