The African Society for Laboratory Medicine (ASLM) has selected and given recognition for excellent achievement in the ISO accreditation for 3 Ethiopian Public Health Institute’s (EPHI) laboratories and 3 other regional laboratories in Ethiopia on its annual meeting held in Nigeria.
The accredited laboratories are EPHI’s National TB Reference Laboratory, National HIV Reference Laboratory and Bacteriology Reference Laboratory. The regional laboratories that are accredited are Amhara Public Health Institute’s Laboratory, Adama Regional Laboratory and St. Peter’s TB Specialized Hospital’s Laboratory which all have affiliation with EPHI.
Ephrem Tesfaye from EPHI’s National TB Reference Laboratory said that this is an important milestone in the continuing growth and success of the laboratory.
“This accreditation and award shows the commitment in providing the highest levels of quality care to patients, and the same for the research activities and evidence generated from the laboratory,” added Ephrem.
“Once again I pass my congratulation to all our labs getting the ASLM recognition,” said Dr. Ebba Abate, Director General of EPHI.
