Course description:

This is a five days training intended for health professionals working in CSDs sentinel site, public health professionals, field epidemiology professionals and other public health actors to entertain the concept, and merit of the CSDS and early warning system in order to engage in the implementation to advance the country’s public health emergency early warning system. |
Course goal:
|
To provide the participants with the necessary knowledge, attitude and skill needed to engage and undertake CSDs surveillance for public health emergency early warning system. |
Course objectives: | By the end of this training, participants will be able to:
· Describe the public health emergency management; · Explain the effect of climate change on health; · Use climate services to the health community; · Apply the concept of climate informed disease early warning system; · Manage different sectoral data collected by climate sensitive diseases surveillance sentinel sites; · Develop basic skills on public health emergency risk communication; · Coordinate different stakeholders according to their roles and responsibilities in the implementation of CSDS; · Apply principles of monitoring and evaluation for CSDs Surveillance and early warning system |

Participant selection criteria
|
· The participants of the training shall be experts who are PHEM officers, CSDS stakeholders, CSDS sentinel sites surveillance officers and other health professionals |
Training/Learning Materials: | · Pen, hand book, flipchart, laptop/computer, marker, LCD projector
· Participant Manual, facilitator guide and power point slide/presentation |
Trainer selection criteria: | · Previous knowledge and experience of CSDS and early warning system
· Trained on advanced and/or basic CSDS and early warning system · Individuals who have participated in the CSDS implementation manual and/or training material preparation |
