Training is being given to health officers from the ten regions of the country who will be participating in the upcoming malaria elimination program’s survey. The training will continue until January 6, 2020.
The general objective of this survey is to measure malaria treatment seeking behavior, LLIN ownership and utilization in malarious areas of the country and find out reasons for not using nets.
Dr. Geremew Tasew the Ethiopian Public Health Institute’s (EPHI) Bacteriology, Parasitic and Zoonosis Diseases Research Directorate (BPZDR) P/Director in his opening speech said that the survey will generate data to be used in the malaria elimination plan.
Dr. Wondatir Nigatu a researcher at the BPZDR in his part indicated that the survey results will be inputs for the country’s plan to eliminate malaria in 2030.
The community will benefit from this survey since all outbreak management of the disease will be based on data generating from this project, and will also have major contributions to the malaria elimination program launched by the country.
More than 100 health officers are participating on this training.sevay2
