Nutrition and Environmental Health Research Directorate

Description
This study is a nationally and sub-nationally (regionally) representative cross-sectional survey that will characterize dietary intake, micronutrient status and access to nutrition-related services for different target populations. Given that soil nutrient content can influence micronutrient content of foods and hence affect nutrient intake, the soil nutrient composition will also be analyzed.

Funding Agency

The main objectives of the project are:

  • To assess discretionary salt and folate intakes and folate, iodine, and hematological status of non-pregnant women of reproductive age (WRA) in the study communities; and

Assess the acceptability and intake of double-fortified salt containing folic acid and iodine, and its effects on biomarkers of micronutrient status and safety among Ethiopian WRA
