Dr. Ammar Barba is a Chief of Staff in the Office of the Director General (DG) of EPHI where he advises and technically supports the overall functions of the institute along with supporting the emergency preparedness and response activities, and public health research projects. In this role, he nurtured partnership and collaborations with national and international partners, donors, and other stakeholders for the accomplishment of these. He also functioned as a leader in supporting administrative functions of the institute.
Prior to joining the EPHI, he worked for Ministry of Health as a Technical Officer; and for Ambo University Teaching Hospital as an Instructor, and a Health Service Quality Director. He has been awarded certificates of recognitions for outstanding achievements from heads of these organizations; the Health Minster, and President of Ambo University. Dr. Ammar is alumni of the University of Gondar, and Ambo University, Ethiopia, where he obtained the degrees BSc/health sciences, MD/Doctor of medicine, and MPH/Master of public health in epidemiology.
