13th Annual TB Research Conference is Underway
The 13th annual TB research conference which is organized by the Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI) in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Health (FMoH) and Armauer Hansen Research Institute is being held in EPHI’s National Training Center from March 21 – 23, 2018. And also the 21st World TB Day is being commomorated.
The conference is very important for strengthening and improving the impact of national response to the spread of tuberculosis as well as forging innovative, effective and modern ways to tackle the disease in the Ethiopian context
Dr. Kebede Worku state minister of FMoH in his opening speech said that our country is one of the thirty countries which TB is still found in. Therefore we should give the due attention to the disease.
“It is estimated that about 157 thousand patients exist in our country. Thus to minimize this situation we need to be actively involved in research and engage in fruitful results and also benchmark other successful countries,” added the state minister.
Different research abstracts related to TB from various research institutes are being presented on the conference.
Participants drawn from all federal and regional health bureaus, representatives from universities and all the stakeholders are taking part in the conference.
