A workshop on risk assessment of yellow fever in Ethiopia was held
A consultative workshop on the risk, prevention and control strategies of yellow fever was held from November 18 to 19, 2015 where a number of research papers were presented by EPHI and WHO.
During his opening speech Dr. Amha Kebede General Director of EPHI indicated that the dissemination and consultative discussion is very important in the prevention and control of the risk of yellow fever.
“As we know yellow fever has been a problem in Ethiopia since fifteen years, and the institute is working on it’s risk assessment as per EPHI’s strategic plan in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Health and WHO,” he added.
Ato Mesfin Mengesha, Coordinator of the National Influenza Laboratory on his part said that the objective of the workshop is to design yellow fever control strategies for Ethiopia based on the recent results of yellow fever need assessment undertaken in the country.
