ARC-GIS Training Given EPHI and NIPN Partners
As one of the capacity strengthening activity under NIPN, Geographical Information System (GIS) training has been given to researchers from Dec 23 to Dec 27, 2018 at the Ethiopian Public Health Institute’s (EPHI) training center.
The purpose of the training is to contribute to the fulfillment of the overall NIPN objectives and create capacities of NIPN stakeholders to use the Geographical Information System to map the spatial location and visualize the distribution of a data.
Ato Masresha Tessema, Director of the Food Science and Nutrition Research Directorate (FSNRD) of EPHI welcomed the participants and encouraged the trainees to cascade the training in their respective staff members.
The training is used as a tool to show the result for the analysis of one of the outstanding national nutrition policy question which need to be answered by NIPN.
The training will give a good understanding of ArcGIS, enables trainees to integrate data sets with different geographical location, visualize and display analyzed data on a map, and carry out interpretation and reporting of data.
On this ARC-GIS training researchers and NIPN stakeholders from EPHI ,Tigray, Amhara and South regional health Bureaus attended the training.
EPHI-NIPN in collaboration with (IFPRI) organized this training.
