Concludes Lihiket 2.0 Communicating Research Results Training
July 8, 2026

The Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI), through its Health System Directorate, successfully concluded a five-day training workshop on Communicating Research Results from June 29 to July 3, 2026, at the Institute’s National Training Centre.

The workshop brought together researchers from EPHI and trainees from six universities participating in the Capacity Building and Mentorship Programme (CBMP): Addis Ababa, Haramaya, Hawassa, Mekelle, and Gondar Universities.

The training marked the seventh and final course delivered under the Lihiket 2.0 Project, a two-year collaborative initiative implemented by EPHI, the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), and the six partner universities, with financial support from the Gates Foundation.

The workshop aimed to strengthen participants’ capacity to effectively communicate research findings to diverse audiences and promote the use of scientific evidence in health policy and practice. Throughout the training, participants transformed findings from their own public health research into practical communication products, including policy briefs, infographics, press releases, short videos, and social media content designed for policymakers, health professionals, journalists, and the public.

It also marked the successful completion of a comprehensive capacity-building programme comprising seven week-long courses on implementation research and research leadership. The courses covered Implementation Science I, Implementation Science II, Community-Based Trials, Proposing, Managing and Leading Research, Mixed Methods Research, Developing an Implementation Research Proposal, and Communicating Research Results.

Launched with a planning and prioritization workshop in September 2024, the Lihiket 2.0 Project has strengthened collaboration between EPHI, LSHTM, and six Ethiopian universities. Through its Health System Directorate, EPHI has played a central role in coordinating and implementing the programme.
