EPHI Celebrated International Women’s Day
The Ethiopian Public Health Institute’s (EPHI) Women’s and Youth’s Affairs Directorate organized and event to celebrate the International Women’s Day on March 14, 2018 inside EPHI’s premises.
The day was celebrated for 107 times worldwide, 42 times in Ethiopia and it is the 8th to be celebrated in EPHI. During the celebration, Nuria Yusuf director of EPHI’s Women’s and Youth’s Affairs Directorate presented the background history and why it is necessary to celebrate the Day.
And also successful women including EPHI’s Deputy Director General shared their life experiences; various literatures concerning the Day have been presented which were followed by question and answer program. In addition to these the Institute has recognized best performer women staffs and finally a financial donation, which was collected from the EPHI’s staffs, has been made to the Gergesion Charity Organization.
International Women’s Day is an occasion to celebrate the progress made towards achieving gender equality and women’s empowerment but also to critically reflect on those accomplishments and strive for a greater momentum towards gender equality worldwide. It is a day to recognize the extraordinary acts of women and to stand together, as a united force, to advance gender equality around the world.
