EPHI, Israeli Institute Signed Agreement
Dr. Joseph Shevel, president of Galilee International Management Institute (GIMI) of Israel, visited EPHI on 25 December 2017. Director Generals of EPHI and president of GIMI made a thorough discussion on the scope of cooperation between the sisterly institutions. Based on the working visit of president of GIMI, the Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI) signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with GIMI of Israel on January 12, 2018. The MoA is signed by EPHI’s Director General Dr. Ebba Abate, and President of GIMI Dr. Joseph Shevel.
Both Institutes have agreed to cooperate in fields of management and health according to a yearly scholarship agreement for five years based on availability of finance. To this effect, EPHI sends its staff members to GIMI programs on Health, Public Administration, and Project Management, Monitoring and Evaluation.
The MoA bears ten articles that describe the overall responsibilities and commitments of the two Institutes. Out of these is the exchange of information that promotes the best practices with respect to policies and procedures particularly those related to quality assurance of joint activities. Abebe Bekele , Health Systems and Reproductive Health Research Directorates Director of EPHI has been assigned as a contact person on behalf of EPHI.
According to the MoA, GIMI will grant EPHI tuition scholarship per year for 5 yrs. To this end, GIMI prepares workshop programs that combine the theoretical sessions with the practical exercises and field visits; develop training modules, programs and materials; provide the resource persons for conducting the training sessions; and organize the logistics related to travel of participants and their stay in Israel during the workshop (accommodation, full board, medical insurance, visa, airport transfer).For detailed information about the scholarship, please visit: www.galilcol.ac.il.
