EPHI, St. Paul Medical College Signed MoU
The Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI), and St. Paul Hospital Millennium Medical College (SPHMMC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to form an alliance to promote the development of highly qualified public health professionals by the synergy of a collaborative and sharing approach.
The two Institutions have agreed to create collaboration links and make expertise, know-how, equipment and facilities available to one another to strengthen the human resource capacity building of those who work on priority public health’s issues of the country.
According to the agreement, EPHI is obliged to ensure inclusion of Field Epidemiology and Laboratory Training Program (FELTP) residents and other trainees in activities that are useful for their training practice such as epidemic investigation, disaster management activities, laboratory practices and surveys. And also EPHI ensures that the regions are informed about the trainings and field attachments and facilitate the training accordingly.
SPHMMC which is committed to the development of health human resource capacity to improve the public health of Ethiopia by providing wide range academic training including field epidemiology and laboratory training, microbiology and other subject matter specialists has agreed to lead the provision of classroom trainings and to support field trainings. SPHMMC will also recruit instructors and mentors for the trainings and mentorships mostly those who are subject matter experts from EPHI.
Dr. Amha Kebede, Director General of EPHI and Dr. Wuletaw Chane SPHMMC’s Vice Provost for Academic and Research signed the MoU on behalf of their respective Institutions.
