EPHI’s IRB Recognition has been Renewed

The Ethiopian Public Health Institute’s (EPHI) Institutional Review Board (IRB) received it’s renewal of recognition from the Strategic Initiative for Developing Capacity in Ethical Review (SIDCER) on the 3rd International Conference on Public Health in Africa (CPHIA 2023) held from November 27 – 30, 2023 in Lusaka, Zambia.
Dr. Mesay Hailu Director General of EPHI congratulated all EPHI staff and leadership.
“We will continue to serve our people with enthusiasm and commitment to provide scientific operational leadership. I would like to thank all scientific and ethical review board members for the achievement,” said Dr. Mesay.
The renew recognition was awarded to IRB for it’s compliance with the Declaration of Helsinki, International Council for Harmonization (ICH) Guidelines, Good Clinical Practice (GCP) Standards, Councils for International Organizations of Medical Sciences (CIOMS) Guidelines, World Health Organization (WHO) Standards and Operational Guidance for Ethics Review of Health-Related Research and Surveying and Evaluating Ethical Review Practices, EC/IRB Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Local Regulations and Standards in Ethical Review.
The recognition certificate was received by EPHI’s Scientific Ethical Review Office Director Mr. Ebrahim Kedir.
