International Women’s Day Celebrated

The Ethiopian Public Health Institute Women’s and Youth Affairs Directorate, conducted a half day meeting on the celebration of International Women’s day on March 8, 2016 at EPHI.
The objective of the meeting was to create awareness on the International Women’s day movement and its achievements since its inception among the Institute Women workers.
Dr. Amha Kebede Director General of Ethiopian Public Health Institute, on his opening remarks said that when we celebrate the International Women’s Day we have to discuss how to implement the available rules and regulations regarding gender equality in our Institute.
W.o Nuriya Yusuf Director of the Women’s and Youth Affairs Directorate of the Institute, in her welcome address said that this year the commemoration day of the International Women’s Day in our Institute is organized to have a half day meeting by inviting two well known women professionals to share their experiences.
She has also introduced Dr. Aster Shewamare who is working at Zewditu Hospital in the HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment unit and Sister Zebider Zewdie manager of the Marry joy Development Association respectively.
The two professionals presented their work experience to the Institute Women and other participants of the meeting.
The Institute Women forum members who serve for the last two years and ginbar qedem women workers were given different awards which was prepared by the Institute’s Women and Youth Affairs Directorate.
