Policy Dialogues on Major Health Issues was Held
Technology Transfer and Research Translation Directorate (TTRTD) of the Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI) organized a policy dialogues on Improving Antenatal Care Service Utilization in Ethiopia, Improving the Consumption of Quality Protein Maize in Ethiopia and Improving the Health Work Force in Remote and Rural Areas of Ethiopia was conducted from May 13 – 15, 2016 in Adama town.
Dr. Mamuye Hadis director of TTRTD indicated that the major aim of the policy dialogue is to develop policies for the health system based on evidence that leads to a better solution and enables the policies to be based on reliable information.
“For instance in improving the health work force in remote and rural areas of Ethiopia it aims to show the size and major causes of the poor health work force distribution in remote and rural areas of Ethiopian and to suggest possible policy options that can improve the health workforce availability in rural parts of the country,” said Dr. Mamuye.
On the policy dialogue participants were drawn from Parliament, experts from Ministry of Health, Regional Health Bureau experts and also professionals who conducted research on the policies from Mekelle, Jimma and Gondar Universities participated on the dialogue.
Finally the participants agreed to incorporate the comments and suggestions given on the dialogue and forward the document for policy makers.
