Population Connectivity Across Borders Successfully Conducted

The Ethiopian Public Health Institute’s (EPHI) Travelers and Border Health Directorate (TBHD) in collaboration with the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (US-CDC), successfully conducted the Population Connectivity Across Borders (PopCAB) Training of Trainers (ToT) for national experts of EPHI, and PoE experts – from January 16–21, 2025 at the EPHI National Training Center.
According to Mr. Temesgen Lemi Director of TBHD, the training strengthened national capacity to independently lead and support regional teams in implementing PopCAB activities by equipping participants with practical skills in population movement mapping, mixed-method data collection, geospatial analysis, facilitation and field implementation, data management, and evidence-based reporting.
By building sustainable in-country expertise, the training contributes to mobility-informed surveillance, strengthened cross-border coordination, and evidence-based public health emergency preparedness and response at points of entries and across national and sub-national administrative areas.
