Quarterly Regular Meeting of Monitoring, Evaluation and Research Steering Committee Conducted Successfully

A National Meeting on Monitoring, Evaluation and Research Steering Committee (MER SC) was conducted in the capital of Amhara Regional State, Bahir-Dar. Present on the occasion were head of the Amhara Health Bureau, Dr. Melkamu Abate and Deputy Director General of the Ethiopian Public Hralth Institute (EPHI) Dr. Getachew Tolera.
Dr Melkamu lauded the initiative taken by EPHI to hold the workshop in Bahir-Dar Town. He also appreciated all who are striving hard to prevent stunting at national level.
Dr. Getachew has also appreciated the measures taken to hold the workshop in Bahir-Dar Town. He expressed appreciation for being part of the national meeting. Dr. Getachew further underscored that intensive efforts should be exerted to meet the objectives of the Seqota Declaration.
The Meeting mainly dealt with the Seqota Declaration. Activity progress reports were presented by different researchers of signatory bodies of MER SC. Fisiha Tekle from Ministry of Health, Tsedey Moges from EPHI, Abera Dibaba from Ministry of Health, Frezer Zewdu from MoH, Abdrahim Seid from MoTRI, Habtamu Zeru from MoA, Fraol Bekele from EDRMC, Dawit Azeze from MoA, Tiru Belete from MoWSA, Dr. Adamu Belay from EPHI, Deginet Teferi from BDU, Masresha Minwiye from Agricultural Research Institute were among the ones who presented their respective progress reports on which participants held wide discussions.
Being led by Dr. Masresha Tessema, Director of EPHI’s Food Science and Nutrition Research Directorate, meeting participants observed a minute of silence for those who have lost their lives on line of duty in the efforts of implementing Seqota Declaration.
Following the day-long meeting STATA Training was given to Researchers of Signatories of MER SC for two days. Data Experts of EPHI and a professor from Gonder University involved in providing the STATA Training.
Researchers drawn from various ministries, research institutes, sector signatories, Amhara Regional health Bureau, Amhara Regional Public Health Institute, higher learning institutions, donor agencies, directorates from EPHI were in attendance at the national meeting.
