The Directorate conducts Policy Dialogue on Prevention of Postpartum Haemorrhage in Rural Ethiopia

The Technology Transfer and Research Translation Directorate of the Ethiopian Health and Nutrition Research Institute, EHNRI has conducted a policy dialogue on the 20th April, 2012 in Adama.
According to the Directorate, the policy dialogue, which was conducted under the title of Prevention of Postpartum Haemorrhage in Rural Ethiopia, was aimed at enriching an evidence brief.
During the opening session of the policy dialogue, Dr. Mamuye Hadis, Director of the Technology Transfer and Research Translation Directorate at EHNRI has made an introductory speech on the activities and mandates of his Directorate which is also the organizer of the policy brief. Dr. Mamuye has also made a remark on what policy brief and dialogues are and the goals they aimed for.
On his behalf, Dr. Yemane Teklay, who was the Moderator of the dialogue, said that the policy dialogue was mainly conducted to discuss a policy brief which was prepared on the Prevention of Postpartum Haemorrhage (PPH) in rural Ethiopia. “The policy brief describes a problem with regard to PPH in rural Ethiopia and all possible options for addressing the problem in addition to implementation strategies for implementing these options” added Dr. Yemane.
The dialogue has attracted representatives from the Parliament, the Federal Ministry of Health (FMoH) and Civil & Professional societies.

It is believed that the dialogue will be an input to the FMoH in making of an informed decision on policy options of preventing PPH.
