Workshop on Climate Sensitive Diseases Underway

Today Ethiopian Public Health Institute’s (EPHI) Public Health Emergency Management (PHEM) started a workshop on Climate Sensitive Diseases (CSD) Surveillance Training Need Assessment Workshop on January 22, 2019 which will continue until January 26, 2019 and it is expected to identify training gaps on existing surveillance system towards CSD and come up with a draft training material.
Dr. Feyissa Regassa, Director of EPHI’s PHEM while opening the workshop said that climate sensitive disease that were eradicated are reemerging which indicates more attention should be given to the climate sensitive diseases early warning system.
“The workshop will identify the training needed to strengthen this surveillance system and produce a draft training material,” added Dr. Feyissa.
PHEM focal persons from the regions and from the 11 sentinel sites of the CSD surveillance, representatives from Federal Ministry of Health and staffs of EPHI are participating on the workshop.
