EPHI Launches the ROHOKET Project

The Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI) launched the Regional One Health Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Project in Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia and Tanzania (ROHOKET) on a workshop which commenced on February 3, 2025 in Adama.
Dr. Getachew Tollera, Deputy Director General of EPHI welcomed the workshop participants and stressed their contribution to leave strengthened relationships and a renewed commitment to tackling Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR).
“This gathering represents not only a convergence of minds from Uganda, Kenya,Ethiopia, and Tarnzania but also a critical step toward addressing one of the most pressing publlc health challenges of ourtime: AMR,” added Dr. Getachew.
EPHI’s Malaria and Tropical Diseases Research Directorate Director Dr. Geremew Tassew explained the programs objectives while a general presentation about the project was delivered by Mr. Gebrie Alebachew AMR Surveillance Technical Assistance at EPHI. The project is supported by the French Embassy
During the coming five days of the workshop, participants are expected to establish common understanding among national ROHOKET project implementors and key stakeholders, key AMR actors (national and international) will be mapped and project alignment will be done with implementation strategies, implementor government actors will develop and submit their detailed work plan for implementation and reporting, and AMR research priorities will be identified, documented and shared for further implementation by key AMR implementors, academia and research institutions.
