EPHI, WHO Conducting Table-Top Exercise
The Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI) in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO) are conducting the Table-Top Exercise (TTX) on COVID-19; aiming to examine preparedness & response mechanisms to COVID-19.
TTX is an exercise that uses a progressive simulated scenario, together with series of scripted injects, to make participants consider the impact of a potential health emergency on existing plans, procedures and capacities.
Dr. Ebba Abate Director General of EPHI in his opening remark said that the engagement of different government sectors and development partners is very necessary in such situations.
“This health emergency preparedness simulation exercise will have significant impact on the preparedness and will clearly show the improvements that must be improved,” added Dr. Ebba.
The TTX is prepared based on the WHO monitoring response implementation checklist for COVID-19 and designed for national level operational stakeholders involved in public health emergency preparedness or response.
Representatives from EPHI’s Public Health Emergency Operation Center, WHO, CDC, Ministry of Defense and Industrial Parks are participating on the exercise.
