PHEM Forum Taking Place in Mekelle
The Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI) 3rd Public Health Emergency Management (PHEM) Forum has begun in Mekelle on January 14 and will continue until January 16, 2020.
Dr. Hagos Godefay, Head of the Tigray Regional Health Bureau in his opening speech indicated that the forum’s discussion points and the report must be presented to the Ministry of Health.
“When forums are organized it would be appropriate to set them at places where are health related problems and also discussion with the local authorities are needed,” added Dr. Hagos.
Dr. Beyene Moges EPHI’s Deputy Director General and also Chair of the forum in his key note address said that the forum is important to share best experiences and enables to communicate and work together in a coordinated manner.
This year’s forum discussion agendas will be equity and transparency, communication with in Districts and Regional Health Bureaus, community based surveillance, and PHEM package at health facility.
Last year’s forum agendas were regional financial support and liquidation status, community based surveillance, DHIS 2 customization and utilization, rabies preparedness and response, malaria outbreak response. And a presentation was made on these action points progress and update.
The last two forums were held in Gondar and Arba Minch respectively.
