The 4th Health Science Congress has Kicked Off
The 4th Health Science Congress under the theme “Advancing Public Health through Information Revolution” which is organized by the Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI) has been launched at EPHI’s Training Center. The Congress will be held from May 6 – 8, 2019.
Dr. Ebba Abate, Director General of EPHI in his welcoming speech said that the Congress is expected to create a platform to exchange ideas, strengthening the existing and new collaborative health service strengthening projects to progress with big strides of improvement in the health and nutritional status of our people.
“On the Congress the challenges, opportunities, and strategies for health programs will be discussed upon extensively, opportunities on health research will be analyzed, how to improve health equity and quality will accessed, and the best alliances and strategies for global action towards universal coverage of basic health services will all be addressed,” further said Dr. Ebba.
Dr. Christin Ross CDC Country director in her part mentioned that the advancement in public health were due to improvements in control of infectious diseases, improvement in sanitation – cleaner water and management of waste, more abundant and safer food, and then of course incredibly important was the development and wide-scale implementation of immunizations.
H.E Dr. Amir Aman, Minister of Health mentioned that the Congress will deliver important inputs for the Transformation Plan which is undergoing and nearing completion, inputs which enable to change or amend the Health Policy, inputs which support the Health Package that is being amended, and also the Congress will deliver inputs to come up with solutions for Non Communicable Diseases that are killing more people than the Communicable ones.
On the Congress 105 oral and 96 poster presentations will be presented and an exhibition will also be displayed.
