EPHI’s Staffs Awarded on th 19th TB Research Coference

The 19th Annual TB Research Conference organized by the TB Research Advisory Council (#TRAC), was hosted by Arba-Minch University from March 21-23, 2025 in Arba Minch city.
Ethiopian Public Health Institute’s (EPHI) employees, Getu Diriba and Getachew Seid have been awarded at the conference.
Dr. Getachew Tollera, Deputy Director General of EPHI said that <span;>as an employee of EPHI working within the Tuberculosis and Other Bacterial Diseases Research Division, Getu Diriba has demonstrated exceptional dedication and expertise.
“His work has not only strengthened the national efforts to combat #TB but has also contributed to the broader public health goals of the country.
“This award is a testament to Getu Diriba’s commitment to excellence and his impactful contributions to public health. EPHI is proud to have such a dedicated professional on its team and looks forward to continued advancements in tuberculosis research and control through his and his colleagues unreserved contributions,” adeded Dr. Getachew.
The Coference entertained informative plenary sessions, insightful presentations and groundbreaking researches aimed at addressing the national and global TB challenges were presented and discussed up on.
According to the organizers, Getachew Seid is also awarded as best abstract ranking third, following his remarkable findings focused on TB in household contact using WGS. In addition all EPHI staff who played great roles in organizing the event have been recognized.
EPHI as one of the founding members of #TRAC is competing to host the 20th annual conference.
